Code of Conduct

Contrary to popular belief, rules are not made to be broken; ours are made to ensure that everyone has a pleasant stay here at Trip! We have a three strike system, but punishments can vary depending on the situation and severity of the offence. Do make sure you read the rules, and if anything is changed we’ll let you know.

General

  • Use common sense. If you don’t think it’s allowed, don’t do it. The same goes for the usual things that most role plays forbid including, but not limited to, godmoding, powerplaying, metaplaying, imping and so on.

  • Please be considerate and respectful of one another. Drama, though welcome in character, is not wanted out of character and will be dealt with seriously.

  • Please do avoid excessive swearing out of character. It isn’t forbidden, but we don’t want f-bombs dropped every other word either. Likewise, keep inappropriate conversation topics and content to yourself on the forums and in the cbox.

  • Mature themes are welcome in character here at Trip, but when we say ‘mature themes’ we don’t just mean sex, drugs and violence. There’s a whole world of political injustice and the opportunity for psychological issues too – not everything has to come down to bumping uglies.

  • Killing another player’s character without their permission is not allowed, so please don’t try.

    Characters and Accounts

  • Remember that this is a character-per-account role play and apply under your character’s name or alias, correctly capitalised. Please also keep character names short – you can apply with a first name, a first and surname, a codename, but Baron von Alexander Stanyslowski III is too long will stretch the forums and member list.

  • You may have as many character as you can keep active, but if you aren’t rping with one of them you may be asked to drop them for now.

  • You may use whatever you like to represent your character (within reason) – a celebrity, a symbol, an anime character or illustration – but if you are using a celebrity or anime character please be sure to post in the face claim. Illustrations and stock photos may also be claimed there.

  • This should go without saying, but be mindful of the setting when creating your character. This is a gritty cyberpunk role play, not a magical medieval fantasy site or anything that, well, isn’t a gritty cyberpunk role play. Make sure that, whether you’ve made a new character or you’re using an old one, they fit into the world here.

  • Be realistic when creating your character – people aren’t perfect. Everyone has flaws!

    Posting

  • We do not have a word minimum here, as we want to encourage quality over quantity. Please be considerate of one another though, and don’t respond to a well-thought out, lengthy post with a one liner. If your partner has made an effort, you should too.

  • Correct grammar, spelling and punctuation are mandatory – we don’t care if it looks more attractive without them.

  • Post scripts and excessive posting decorations are not allowed – this means no images and song lyrics in every post – but you may change the font face, colour and so on. Please do not post in a font size smaller than 7.5pt because frankly this is too hard to read for some people.

  • Please try to avoid closed threads so that there’s a chance for everyone to rp with each other. Just be aware though, that whether a thread is closed or not doesn’t mean that the Ghosts or Wraith won’t show up.

  • Avatars should be no bigger than 100 by 100 pixels.

  • Graphic and mature content is permitted, but if things get too filthy or too gory, please stick a warning in the thread title (or take it to PMs) to make sure no one gets an unwanted surprise when glancing over the posts.

    Activity

  • There is no activity requirement but do at least try to post in character once a week.

  • If you are going to be away or inactive, please let us know on the Away Notices thread. It is not the responsibility of the staff to keep track of you – it’s up to you to let us know or risk deletion.

  • Activity checks are held regularly and if you fail to post at one without having posted an away notice, your accounts and information will be deleted.

  • If you do get deleted, you are welcome to rejoin. However, people who have a tendency to disappear are unlikely to be offered important canon roles.
